My name is Anne Marie, and I am a bath and body product addict.
Hi Anne Marie!
I think that most women around my age are this way. We grew up alongside Bath and Body Works with their sprays and lotions filling our bathroom cabinets and college shower caddies. We tried each scent as it came out, only to fall back on our old standbys (Warm Vanilla Sugar, anyone?).
Now that I am older, and don’t have quite the expendable income of my youth, I have decided to try my hand at making some BBW-like products with things that I have around the house.
Make your own Peppermint Sugar Scrub featuring #newyorkbiology – @CCHCblog

I’ve made sugar scrubs in the past, but they always lacked a little something. So, when New York Biology sent me some Peppermint Essential Oils to try and review and it has given my scrub that perfect pop that I was looking for.
DIY Sugar Scrub Recipe
- 1/2 Cup White Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
- 4 Drops New York Biology Essential Oil
- 1-2 Drops of Food Color (not required)
In a small bowl mix the sugar and oil combined.
Add 4 drops essential oil to the mixture and combine. I chose peppermint because I find it refreshing.
Add 1-2 drops of food coloring and combine to make your sugar scrub look more like store bought. I opted for green to emphasize the peppermint scent.
Once you have made your scrub you need somewhere to store it. I picked up a cute little tin at Michael’s for less than 2 dollars and it fit my scrub perfectly. These are also perfect if you want to make your scrub as a gift.
I love the quality of the New York Biology peppermint essential oils. They are strong and will take up your sense whether you are diffusing them or adding them to things like this scrub. I can’t wait to try some of their other oils.
Create to Donate
Another thing you could do with your scrub is find a way to give back with it. I am a big fan of doing things for charity and am always looking to find new ways to help others who may have less than myself.
One way that I have found to do this is to teach up with Dana from Goods Giving Back for her Create to Donate project and we are hosting a giveaway! There are a ton of great items in this giveaway (including my sugar scrub!) so be sure and enter.
